Hoping to find a ceremony space that can hold 150 people and has a spectacular dome? We have that too. You dream it, we have the space for you to mould into exactly what you want. Below are a few ideas of how the different areas of Matara can be used for your big day.
Ceremony Areas
Did you know that you can now have your civil ceremony anywhere within a licensed venue, such as Matara? We would never limit you as to where to say 'I do', here are some of our couples favourite areas.
The Cloistered Courtyard
The centrepiece of Matara, the Cloistered Courtyard is our couples go to place to say 'I do'. Inspired by the Chinese garden on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the couryard is a fusion of architectural pieces purchased by Geoffrey during his travels through China and Cotswold Stone walling. The covered walkways makes this the perfect outdoor ceremony location, no matter the weather.
Licensed for up to 100 guests for a Civil Ceremony.
The Hilarium
The Hilarium is our main reception room and is licensed for up to 150 people for your civil ceremony.
The dome in the centre of the room was inspired by the synagogues in Libya, which Geoffrey explored during a work trip.
The Front Lawn
The front lawn of Kingscote Park House delivers the quintessential Cotswold wedding setting. The arbour bursts with roses all summer long and provides an ideal backdrop for your ceremony.

It is licensed for up to 200 guests for a Civil Ceremony.
Unity & Beech
Unity was originally the carriage houses for the house and Beech, with it's stunning skylight, was added to join Unity to Mandela in 1999. These two spaces join together to create your ceremony space for up to 70 guests.
Kingscote Park House
The Sun Room at the end of main hall in the house at Matara hosts our intimate weddings. Licensed for up to 30 guests we are delighted to offer settings for elopements and micro weddings.
Getting Ready Spaces
We are excited to be adding a dedicated getting ready space available to our couples to use on the day of their wedding later this year. The primary suite in the house and the honeymoon lodge are
Reception Areas
From drinks to your wedding breakfast and onto your evening reception Matara offers you and your guests plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the day.
Front Courtyard
Originally the stableyard the front courtyard is now a suntrap and a great place for your guests to gather for drinks and canapes before the wedding breakfast.
Unity, Beech, & Mandela
These three connecting rooms are the perfect indoor spaces for drinks, canapes, and a quiet space to escape to once the dancing kicks off.
The Hillarium
Our main reception room, with it's breathtaking dome, can host up to 150 guests for a sit down wedding breakfast.
